In the summer of 2006 I met a woman at the summit. Like me, she was fascinated with volcanoes. I explained that I
believed Mt Jefferson to be a strato volcano and she said with a note of wonder, "We live amongst volcanoes." But she was
heading back to Illinois, and visits twice a year when she deposits her son in Eugene to attend the University of Oregon. :-)
