Hiking in the Umpqua River Watershed:

I wanted to take this hiking trail for some time, but knew to do it earlier
in the summer rather than later, so the hike never materialized. This
spring I asked Brad if he wanted to go, and he wasn't interested.
So I decided to do it on my own.

What an excellent decision! It was wonderful to be in the forest all
by myself. No other human was up there. In truth, the weather wasn't conducive
to hiking, but I had my rain gear, and I was born in Oregon. I like the rain. Although
it never did rain; the forest just dripped - on me, on the trail, I sloshed through
puddles ... I didn't care. When I saw Shadow Waterfalls I thought it was
worth every drip and every splash :)
