Nature untrammeled: the hiking trail to Shadow Waterfall on Cavitt Creek.

I wanted to do this hike earlier in the season because waterfalls are prettier when more water flows in the creeks and rivers.
We had had a lot of rain the past winter and spring, contrary to prior years. I wasn't able to go until late spring. It was a cloudy
day, and mountains climb higher than clouds, and I was walking through clouds on my way to Shadow Waterfall. Water dripped
from leaves, the very air seemed permeated with it - that's a temperate rainforest for you. I sloshed through puddles. That's one
of the things to remember when hiking in our national forests, regardless the conditions of the hiking trails, ALWAYS remain
on the trail. Stepping around a puddle destroys the surrounding habitat, and one of the reasons for making
a hike like this is to enjoy the habitat.:)

No matter the dripping water from leaves and branches. No matter that I had to straddle a very wet log if I wanted to
continue. The hike, the trail, everything was perfectly glorious. Wild rhododendrons bloomed in the forest. Shadow
Waterfall is definitely worth the hike. I must have thought so; I was the only human in the forest that day.:)
