The Church on the Hill
in Sawyers Bar:

Established in 1855.

We were in Sawyers Bar following the river downstream,
and I saw a sign that said, "Historic Church 1/4 mile". We looked for the church. We asked a woman; she knew nothing about it. Finally, we saw it, hidden in the trees up on a hill.

Like all old churches, the church and the graveyard share the same plot of land.

Lots of history in this small piece of ground. Family plots are separated from one another by this wonderful iron fencing. The place of manufacture is stamped on the fence: Springfield - Illinois, I presume. Nothing is made like that today. Of course, it's rusting now.
