The upper Rogue River near the trailhead for the Natural Bridge The Rogue River, flowing underground through the "natural bridge", an ancient lava tube, can be accessed at the Natural Bridge parking lot on Hwy 62, otherwise known as the Crater Lake Hwy. The view of the Rogue River displayed here can be seen from the bridge that crosses the river near the trailhead of this segment of the National Rogue River Hiking Trail. From there walk upstream on a well maintained trail to view the natural geologic features of the area. The hike is only .3 of a mile. Be sure to look for the small water cave that forms the outlet from the lava tube. This trail forms part of the National Rogue River Hiking Trail. Because of the many road crossings, the Rogue Hiking Trail can be hiked in a series of short hikes, offering the opportunity to enjoy the splendid features of the upper Rogue in the Rogue National Forest. The Natural Bridge is located 9 miles north of Prospect, Oregon, on the Crater Lake Highway. | |||
