As with all natural features that include water, the earlier the visit in the season the better. Many of the photographs in this site were taken Klamath Basin is the heart of the Pacific Flyway. It sustains over 430 species of resident and migratory birds, including bald eagles, sandhill cranes and pelicans. The southern half of Klamath Lake supports Bald Eagles year round. Howard Bay on Klamath Lake is home to nesting Blue Herons, Pelicans and Snow Geese. Klamath Lake is the largest body of fresh water in Oregon, covering an expanse of 133 square miles.
