Mt Thielsen is not the only peak in the broad expanse of Oregon visible from the rim drive at Crater Lake National
Park. Many peaks can be discriminated among the surrounding Cascade Mountains: Union Peak, Mt McLoughlin, Mt
Shasta and Mt Scott on the eastern rim are the most familiar; that's not to discount Klamath Basin, Diamond Lake and
the forests that seem to go on and on, as a Frenchman once commented when we conversed
under the painted sky of the setting sun at Crater Lake.
