Phantom Ship can be viewed from many places on the eastern rim of Crater Lake. Sun Notch, a short trail accessed at
Vidae Waterfall and the turnoff for the Pinnacles gives a wonderful opportunity for viewing and experiencing the unique wonder of
Mt Mazama, apart from the lake. A little further along the rim drive, however, one finds excellent viewpoints simply
by stepping from one's car on several locations around the rim.

The Drive around the rim usually doesn't open until the 4th of July weekend, but the north entrance and,
hence the western rim, opens in June.
