Powerful Salt Creek Waterfalls:
Salt Creek Falls is a short, but lovely walk in the Cascade Mountains of Oregon. Near the summit of the Willamette Pass, it's but 23 miles east of Oakridge, Oregon. This photograph was taken from the trail that leads down to the base of the waterfall. Many viewpoints of the waterfall are accessed by trails that are also wheelchair accessible. The trail that leads to the base of the waterfall and those trails that lead out into Diamond Peak wilderness are not. Those hiking trails that originate in the Salt Creek wayside area, heading off into the Diamond Peak Wilderness area of the Willamette National Forest lead to waterfalls, small mountain lakes, and other beautiful scenery.
Salt Creek Falls is also part of the winter recreation area of the Willamette Pass. Cross Country Ski during winter. Try down hill skiing at the summit. The road to Waldo Lake is not plowed, but rather reserved for snow- mobiles during the winter. Be sure to get your Snow Pass at participating sporting goods stores or at the summit.
Forward ~ Too Much Bear, a lovely mountain lake above Salt Creek Falls.
Back ~ McCredie Hot Springs.
