Hiking and camping at Trout Creek. The trailhead for the Trout Creek Hiking Trail is one of many hiking trails
accessible from the Over the River and through the Woods Scenic Byway on the south Santiam River in Oregon.

Trout Creek Hiking Trail is 2.8 miles long. The smoothly graded trail wends its way through a 100-year-old fire generated forest.
The rocky top of Rooster Rock comes into view as you climb. One half mile from the top, the trail joins Rooster Rock Trail, and continues to the base of Rooster Rock. The Forest Service rates the trail from moderate to difficult. It ascends from an elevation of 1,300 to 3,567 feet. The trail can be hiked year round. It's located in Menagerie Wilderness, the name of which is derived from the interesting rock formations found within. A Northwest Forest Service Pass is required, as well as, a Wilderness Self Issue Permit. Both can be obtained
at the trailhead. A Forest Service Pass for a day costs $5.00.
